Comrade Daniel Onjeh who was the Senatorial candidate of the APC for Benue South in the 2015 election has made a passionate appeal to all federal legislator from Benue State to make a case for the complete rehabilitation and reconstruction of the Lafiya-Makurdi-Otukpo Road so that it can be captured in next year’s budget.
Addressing journalists in Makurdi, the political activist and youth leader who studied in Ghana recalled that the Accra-Tema Road which he traversed several times was constructed by the late Kwame Nkrumah but has stood the test of time. He, therefore, appealed to the Benue federal legislators to make a solid case for a quality road that will stand the test of time.
According to him when he travelled the Kaduna-Zaria-Funtua-Sokoto, Kaduna-Kano-Maiduguri and Kaduna-Jos –Gombe Roads, he has been greatly impressed by the quality of the road construction. It is his belief that if it is achievable in other parts of the North, Benue should not be an exception.
He, therefore, urged the Benue federal legislators to raise the issue as a matter of urgency in the interest of their people and other road users. Comrade Onjeh also appealed for the strategic road to be dualized where necessary. The Lafia-Makurdi-Otukpo Road if reconstructed and rehabilitated will greatly enhance economic activities and uplift the citizens.
